Chicago's Urban Iditarod, the Chiditarod, is going to be tearing up the streets on March 3, 2007. Over one hundred participants have already registered to dress up in costume, strap themselves to shopping carts, and race to infinite, undying glory.
One team that registered yesterday caught our attention:

Comments: Hi Chiditarod team! We're the local Microsoft brand ambassadors. We've been looking for creative ways to promote the newest release of windows, and realized this was a perfect fit. We're super excited to run in Chicago's shopping cart race and promote Windows Vista! Our shopping cart will be filled with goodies for the racers, and we'll be dressed up in red, green, blue and yellow Vista-inspired costumes. Thanks for having us!!
This looks legit. We got full contact information. We were pretty damn surprised.
We at the Chiditarod are an open to all entrants, and we're very excited that we're getting so much attention. We don't have a problem with anybody or any company joining our race. There's nothing like costume-wearing shopping cart racers to get our pulses up. We are very excited to promote urban iditarods, our community, creativity, and to collect food for charity.
But Windows Vista must be stopped. Only you can stop it by racing against this team.
This is an open call for competitors to crush this Microsoft-inspired team. The entire world cannot stand back and allow Windows to win this race. We urge you form teams with dressed up as your favorite operating system or other creative ideas. Let's have a team of penguins waddling,
apples pulling a basket, and a ton of security holes running rampant.
This may be the only time we have to stick it back to Microsoft, and how better than with a shopping cart on Chicago's asphalt?
