CHIditarod 2021: The Pandemic Edition
It’s time to get into the CHIitarod season with a new way to fight hunger, and a celebration of seventeen years of epic generosity. The need to alleviate food insecurity in Chicago has never been greater. Since March 2020 the CHIditarod Foundation has distributed almost $100,000 to local organizations who are directly tackling hunger in the Chicagoland area. The challenges are even greater for 2021, and we need your help!
Events for a Safe and Distant CHIditarod Season!
CHIditarod season is upon us, but with more and more families in need during this trying time and the pandemic keeping us apart for fear of endangering our loved ones and community, we have created a new series of events to keep make sure we can all express our creativity, help those in need, and celebrate together even when we’re apart.
GCFD Takeover
SAT MAR 6th, 8:15am
We’re bringing the pre-race gathering to the Greater Food Depository. Get dressed up and pack up food donations to help fight hunger locally!
Telethon & Awards
SAT MAR 6th, 7pm
Check out the antics of your favorite teams in our film fest, and we’ll give out awards for the largest donations and the most creative takes on 2021!
Fundraising for 2021
Unsure if you can participate? We’re still seeking funds for the CHIdtiarod Foundation. Food insecurity is up 24% in Chicago since the start of the pandemic, with Black and Latino households especially those with children disproportionately affected. The CHIditarod Foundation seeks to alleviate hunger and solve the root causes of hunger through creativity, engagement and direct action. This event will raise funds safely and remotely, and help provide grants to local, small 501(c)(3) organizations that share our hunger-fighting mission.
